Our story

Gamers-Crib started in 2002 with a website, a handful of gamers and TeamSpeak. Almost twenty-five years later, the core group is still playing together every day.

25 years in a nutshell

  1. 2002

    Gamers-Crib comes online

It starts with Battlefield. I find my first squad members and learn, step by step, how PC gaming really works. Back then TeamSpeak is how we talk to each other while we play.

  2. 2005

GT Legends and our own servers

GT Legends is released and I buy my first Logitech force-feedback wheel. As a car fanatic, I'm hooked straight away. With help from a fellow gamer we rent a virtual server, and the Crib runs its own dedicated game servers for the first time. The community starts to grow.

  3. 2006

    GTR2 arrives

GTR2 is released. We rent a second server to host GTR2 as well, and more and more racers join us.

  4. 2006 – 2012

    The league years

A real GTR2 championship: seasons of around ten races, points for the title and every race incident reviewed. More than 100 drivers race in four leagues, A to D, with the fastest in A and promotion and relegation every season.

Next to the league, about four GTR2 and GT Legends servers run 24/7 for quick casual races: five minutes of qualifying, five laps, next track. Every evening two to four of them are full. We also run a GTL Muscle Car League, endurance races and an F1 1991 server.

  5. Over the years

    From online to real life

Online friendships turn into real ones. From several camping meet-ups at Silverstone to the LAN parties we organise, we get together in real life whenever we can. The highlight: our first big meet-up, with more than ten members, at the 1000 km of Le Mans. One of our own drivers raced in the series, which gave us full access to the paddock. A weekend none of us will forget.

  6. 2015 – 2016

    The crib goes quiet

Life happens. In 2015 my son is born and the room with my PC setup becomes his. In 2016 my daughter arrives and the last spare room is gone. Family comes first, and the website and game servers go dark.

  7. 2020 – 2025

    Back in the seat

In 2020 we move to a bigger house and my old rig gets a new home: a man cave in the attic. Slowly I get back into gaming, and one by one the core members from the old days find their way back. A Discord server brings us together again. We race, play shooters and the odd relaxed round of golf, and new gamers start to join us regularly.

  8. 2026

    The Crib returns

I notice that gamers are scattered across lots of small Discord servers, each with just a handful of players. There's no home anymore. No Crib. Some things are in your blood, and the Crib is one of them. So it's back: www.gamers-crib.gg is live again.

From the archive

Long before Discord, we raced. Seasons of GTR2 and GT Legends, Leagues A to D, promotion and relegation, and every incident reviewed. These videos were made by our drivers back then.

Made one of these? Thanks for keeping the memories alive. Want a video added or removed? Let us know on Discord.
